Together with three good friends, Jennie and I visited your hotel/Restaurant on Wednesday evening to sample your “Steak Night.” I must first tell you that my wife Jennie and I had the good fortune to lunch at Raymond Blanc’s “Le Manoir aux quat’ Saisons in Oxford last Wednesday. As you might imagine it was a most memorable occasion.
However, it has to be said that our experience at the Whitminster Inn was equally memorable and indeed impressive. On our arrival, we received a warm reception from two delightful young waitresses for whom nothing appeared to be too much trouble. I seem to recall that it was Ashleigh who took our order and she catered to our every whim in the most professional manner.
I then ordered some drinks from the bar which were quickly dispensed with a warm and friendly smile. The food arrived in good time and it was so beautifully presented on large white plates that it seemed to be something of a travesty to disturb it. The steaks, which were of the finest quality and of a generous proportion were all cooked exactly as requested. The triple cooked potato chips, the large mushroom, the grilled tomato and the peas and the salad were of similar quality.
The meal included a glass of wine which we expected be quite ordinary when considering the amazingly reasonable, “price of the package” However, it was most acceptable and indeed very drinkable and it was very much enjoyed by us all.
Having spent a most memorable evening, we expressed our appreciation to the young lady waitresses who had cared for us so well. May I ask that you convey our compliments to your accomplished chef and his team and congratulate him on a job well done.
As Arnold Shwarzenegger would say: “I’ll be back”!
